How does it work?

When registering for the first time in France, so even for second-hand imported vehicles, a tax will have to be paid according to its Co2 emission rate . The more the vehicle pollutes, the higher the tax will be. The goal is to encourage the French to buy vehicles that consume less Co2.

For 2023 , the only trigger for the penalty is 123 grams per kilometer with a ceiling of € 50.000 €

When buying a used vehicle , if it is registered from 2004, a Co2 tax is calculated according to its fiscal power .

Large families can even benefit from a reduction if they meet the following three conditions:

Be a beneficiary of CAF (family allowances)
